Numbing at best...

Everytime I come to Plymouth, I turn into a ginormous pudgy jelly refusing to do anything other then..... school work (on the computer), shopping, and eating. What a fat asshole I am.

I think its not having an established 'life' here in Plymouth that makes me soo damn nua. Efforts at trying to GO for hikes with the RA, are at best, quarter hearted, and usually, by the time i wake up, I severely can't be arsed.

I did think about going to Exeter to maybe have tea with Janice the Penis today, but my leftover SPS work and well.. general laziness got the better of me. Unfortunately.

Well, at least I'm 1/2 done with the excel part, now i need to do SOME MORE FREAKING MEANINGLESS research and do up the report. Yay. I love uni life.

Sometimes I like to think about coming to Plymouth as a chance to escape the big city life, i.e Manchester, with its lights splendour, and well.. ra ra-ness in general. But I think If I stay here more then a week without a job. I might pass away from boredom. And at 21, I don't want to pass away from boredom.

Off to Brixham for a while tommorow.. Looking forward to that.

I realised that a major part of my momentary depression yesterday was well (other then the superficial reason of not having pretty summer clothes to wear), watching BBC news all day.

You see, I don't have a Teevee in Manchester, because I am poor, and I am also strange. Coming to Plymouth meant that I have freaking 24 hour cable teevee, a priviledge that I don't even have in Singapore. UKtv History, Discovery Channel, E4, ABC, BBC, my oh my.

So after being a glorified mountain turtle in Manchester for the good remainder of the year, I decide to catch up on 1 years worth of news by watching BBC news, which, isn't very optimistic at all.

Algiers bombing, journalist kidnapping, young army personnel killed by IED (and somehow they are all 'special', 'nice' and have children), Iraqi parliament bombing, UK has the worst neighbours, welfare system collapsing. Oh gosh, news after news of bad news.

I think I'm better off reading International Herald Tribune and CNA online, picking news that I want to read, instead of having sadness, blood and gore stuffed down my throat by a media too free and ignorant to comment rashly on cultures and ideas that they vaguely have a grasp on.

So now the Discovery channel is on. 24/7 until Derek Accorah's Most Haunted, which is a total sham, and I love watching it just for laughs.

I could take the time to plan my next term's finances and schedule, like what I always do every term, but hell.. i'm hungry, and i'm actually thinking of the chocolate coated double chocolate chip chocolate dough cookies I left sitting in a box on my table in my room in Manchester. That was probably the biggest mistake i made this year. Leaving my beloved cookies in Manchester while in Plymouth. What a dumbass.

Maybe I should have gone to Mary Tavy yesterday like I planned, BUT. Shopping was good too. Haven't shopped in a long long time.

WHich leads to my next topic. Shopping.

I haven't shopped in a long time (well.. yes since Christmas is a long time dammit) because I've been saving up.. but all that money's gone now. don't ask.

So when I was walking through the mall yesteday, it was like. Strange. I couldn't identify with all these people dressed up to the sixes and sevens in their lovely summer clothes weaving through fashionable shops like Topman, Quiksilver, and Republic, I just didn't feel right in my ruddy brown chinos that I wear to ramble, walking boots, and old Abercrombie tee shirt. I looked like a builder, a thin builder to be precise.

At one point of time, I actually mused to myself, Shit! I've lost my fashion sense! Oh no.

After a nice time shopping, I returned home to do more boring work, which set me wondering.... The kinds of people that I spend most time with determine many things about me!

i.e in Singapore, I played tennis lots, and taught PE (oh gawd. bad memories), had a fricking good pay for a 20 year old, highly involved in church, and well, led a pretty high life for a 20 year old... So therefore, I spent more time at the mall, looking for nice clothes, dressing up, looking good, etcetera etcetera.

And now, things are just strangely different. Can't really put a finger on it. But things are pretty different now.

Maybe its just...

Maybe its just the weather, thats been so bloody perfect for the past few days, you feel that theres an uncanny feeling to it.

Maybe its the frustration, that Summer has arrived even before you realized it, and you have no nice summer clothes to wear.

Maybe its the bloody project that 3/4 a module's marks relies on it, and its not bloody going well, and you have only a month left to go, and the model is really going to fucking collapse.

Maybe its checking in on your mail today, to get a big snapback to reality, and hell, exams are a month away.

Maybe its looking at the past year papers for Planetary Science and actually exclaiming. SHIT, i have no idea what the hell its talking about.

Maybe its looking at your bank accounts online, and go. OMG. I AM SO BLOODY BROKE.

Maybe its knowing that you don't have the time to work, have 2 CCAs, be in 2 committees, keep the 1st class grade, and cook, and do laundry all at the bloody same time.

Maybe its having thoughts that are so bloodily unspeakable of and in every sense of morality, forbidden, and knowing that.

Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. damn.

And maybe its realising how himbotic I sound.

Assymetrical view.

cool huh?.

I just thought that it would be nice to start the entry with a picture of Cheryl kissing Ronaldo Cristiano's ass.

So yes you've heard, Cheryl and her friend Edwin came over to Manchester on Friday and Saturday for a short romp in this beautiful city.

Things NOT to do.

I've never really thought, or rather considered Manchester to be a pretty or ugly city.

Since my arrival, I tried my very best to think of this as, home Number 3 (no1 being singapore, No2 being forcibly Plymouth). So when you think of something as "Home", or instituitional establishment where you are about to live for 3 years, you don't really think of it in the touristy sense of "Pretty" "Ugly" or "Nice". You just fit in and live like the rest of them.

I never really did spend time looking around the city, and it is only because of certain mancunian people who refuse to take a bus and scoff at my laziness that I am forced to walk from point A to point B within the city, therefore an opportunity to see the city. But even he doesn't know the city well. I shan't name names here. : P

cool huh?.

So what is there to do in this beautiful North-west city might you ask?

Well, for one, we went to the world famous Old Trafford, otherwise known as the Theatre of Dreams, though I beg to differ very much.

The tour was indeed very interesting, and it somehow, and rather strangely spurred an interest wthin me to watch a Manchester United match! How very queer indeed. I never had the slightest interest in Football, and there I was, at the tour, captivated.

Things NOT to do.Things NOT to do.

Very strange indeed.

I found myself going, OMG! Thats the seat of Sir Bobby Charlton!! and a few seconds later, I hear myself saying out loud... wait a minute.. WHO THE HELL IS BOBBY CHARLTON!? Yes. I was THAT ignorant.

We did go for the Good Friday Service at Holy Name too.. and we were all fighting really hard to not fall asleep during.. well.. the whole darned service.

The Church was DRAPED in purple. So scary.. Well.. they didn't do that in SFX then.. and now its like.. all the statues covered in purple.

And here's Edwin who is going to use this photo as a proof to his mum that he went for the service. .. .. ..

cool huh?.

Had bak kut teh dinner.. and went to bed.. everyone was pooofed.

The next day, Castleton was on the cards. Castleton occurs to be one of my most favourite places in England. The rolling hills, olde houses, and authentic pubs are just mint. The weather was ace! And we ended up walking from Hope Village to Castleton, which seriously, isn't very far at all, and the scenery was breathtaking. as always.

For some very strange reason, everyone who freshly arrives to England have some sort of strange fascination for English Sheep. Yes. those white fluffy creatures who go very well with your curry, and that Raoul strippy shirt. Especially the little baby ones.

cool huh?. cool huh?.

We visited Peveril Castle too.. especially after the last time I went to castleton and it was closed. Garr...

Suprisingly, the Castle wasn't that fantastic, but. but. the view, was outrageous. I loved it.

cool huh?.

WEnt to The Castle (aye. that expensive pub) but the food was brilliant.. definitely one of the better pubs i've been to. And we had proper British pub food. Who said Britain doesn't have a food culture??

So with that, the duo ended their whirlwind tour of the Northwest. Not a fantastically Northwest in a nutshell tour.. But yeah.. it'll do.

Going off to Plymouth tommorow. Not packed yet, and room's in a mess. Garrr...

cool huh?.

Grrrrr (the sound of gargling chocolate)....

Since Justina was so nice to invite me to her place for Easter! dinner, I thought I'd make her an Easter Bunny from my wonderful 1 pound Asda Chocolate Easter Bunny Super Making Kit!

But it failed, and I ended up eating all the chocolate....... .... .... .... .... .....

Not very good huh.

haha

Its Easter! and I figured that since its a Happy! occasion, everytime I mention Easter!, I'll put an exclamation mark infront of it.

I was reading my entries about being a good Catholic, the entries that I wrote about a year ago, and I thought to myself, how far I've come from being the good Catholic, to well, just what I am today. Not very good, but still acceptable. Shut up you, at least I go for mass ok.

I thought about how it is sometimes, more like a journey, then a religion, a lifestyle, more then worship.. I never took offence when people were quick to insult the church (and yes we get that loads here), as a matter of fact, I don't even feel urged to correct, or explain or clarify. I just say, to each our own. Tis' all very strange init.

So Easter! comes and go so quickly, I'm just left sitting here wondering about how would things be like back home.. and also my SPS project. : (

ok. back to work.

Happy Easter everyone!
