Getting a summer job, is a pain in the rectum. Once again, staring in the face of the brink of failure. Not quite yet failed, not quite yet a dead end, a glimmer of hope still shines farther still, but still shines, in the horizon.
Ill. But with 3 different kinds of meds flowing in my blood stream right now. I'll conquer it all.

drugs are good for you.
Its 1 am here, and I kinda just woke up after being knocked out for a good 4 hours from the cough syrup i took after dinner.
I haven't been well today. Woke up.. felt like shit.. lost my voice.. throat felt horrible. Made nice scallop porridge.. and fucking left the pot on. AGAIN. this is what? the FOURTH time I left my pot/stove on and happily going out without even realising it until much later? Shit man, i'm a real wolly.
Luckily I left the pot on Low heat.. which meant nothing got burnt.. jsut a bit dry.. add abit of water and the porridge was fine again.
Went for training at the church.. got there.. and decided that I was too fucking ill, and it was sooo damn cold in the church, i just sat in the corner, wrapped up in 3 layers (in summer) and watched them do ropey stuff... : ( wish i didn't feel ill.
Theres the final paper on friday, and I am so not prepared for it.. cus of being ill and stuff. It sucks.
Was in the Geology library and I overheard a conversation between some final year students.. I didn't delibrately snoop.. but one of the girls had this really annoying geordie accent that made me want to strangle her..
They were talking about this guy who did really well and got 1st in their fresher's year, and got a shell scholarship and everyhting.. And now.. he can't even be sure whether he can get a 2:2. What the fuck right?
I got abit freaked when they were talking about it cus I haven't been putting in 100% effort.. at least I had put in about 90% effort last term, and managed very very decent and nice results.. This term.. All i did all day was play. : (
Maybe I should put in much more effort next sem. : S
And yeah. Mike says that I have a very posh accent sometimes.. and sometimes I break into a Northern accent, and sometimes.. i just sound foreign altogether (refering to my singlish accent).. eh.. Singaporeans.. the masters of languages and accents.

Whats that coming out of a cave? is it a caver? is it a caver??
Another amazing weekend gone caving.
When we got to Bullpot farm.. the place was teeeeming!! There were people who drove up from POLAND (which included a very sweet little girl who giggled very lady-like when we did or said silly stuff, and had the sweetest smile ever), OXFORD (who drove ALL the way up, and included a GEOLOGIST from BGS and UCL! How quality is that!), IMPERIAL (again. another group of nutters who drove up from London) and SLOVENIA( oh gosh.. they've gained a reputation!)
We hung out with the slovenians that night.. and it was hilarious.. They offered us this wonderful tasting home brewed Pear Liquor.. it was clear like vodka but it packed a hell of a punch!!!!! More like force fed it by drunk slovenian cavers who hardly spoke english.
The conversations were pretty simple.. most of the time it was just hand actions and slow repeating in english or through an equally drunk translator.. but it was all good.. and we all went to bed at 5 in the morning sufficiently poisoned from all the strange unknown sourced liquor. but it was all gooood.
Went down Gaping Gill the next morning.. which is UK's No 2 largest cave.. large enough to fit St Paul's into it! Mint isn't it?
The route down bar pot (past flood.. and into some complicated tunnels) weren't really quality.. and me and mandy got left behind and was abit lost cus the rest ran off without us.. and we were like.. wot!? and they disappeared. That wasn't very nice..
Met this cool lad called Rob from BPC.. we were talking on top of the pitch at Bar pot while waiting for our turn to disappear underground.. He went down pitches SUPER fast.. and that left me thinking.. wouldn't that burn the rope? I went down pretty quickly with the bobbin.. and still i didn't dare just drop down for fear of burning the rope and falling to my death. And he climbed through this quirky route instead of doing a normal horizontal caving route to the main chamber.. But he's cool..
an excerpt of our conversation that left everyone in stitches when it was fondly recounted by Katie...
Just before going into the cave:
Rob: So where are you guys headed?
Me: Erm.. Bullpot Farm? we staying there tonight..
Rob:........ Erm..........*silence.. I mean where in the cave are you guys going?
Me: . . . . . *mumbles something about gaping ghyll
Rob: So how long have you been caving?
Me: For the past 20 minutes?
Rob: ......... Erm.......... *silence.. I mean.. how long have you done caving?
Me:...embarassed... *incoherently mumbles something about first year..
oh yeah. the walk to Ingleborough from Clapham in caving atire and wellies was a total biatch. : (
And Mandy let me drive her car back from Clapham to Bullpot! How cool is that! ahha.. after a slow retarded start that got her abit worried.. i actually handled quite well i think.. after not driving for 9 months! And mike jumped into adam's car once he realised i was driving. : ( arse.
Went down Lancaster hole the next day.. and through to cow pot, and to the start of the urbi series.. It was a brilliant trip.. lots of climbing over large boulders and crazily smooth and steep slopes rigged retardedly. The formations were really beautiful.. and we were followed by the crazy slovenians. haha..
Since i can't sleep.. i'll post some pics now..
