Coming to terms.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core. - Yeats.

Maybe buying a 19 quid teeshirt that would probably sell for $30 in Sillypore is helping me come to terms.

Go see my wish list for books. Thats all I desire for now. Show me how much you love me.

WISH LIST.

Bah. I don't think these things get filled. anyhow.

The air smells like Thailand.

Spent the day walking around town, borrowed some books from the library.. Geology related books if you have to know. Went shopping abit, and bought a monkey shaped peeler.. which makes me laugh everytime I look at it. Which is why I bought it.

Sat at the outside of the cafe I work at sipping my Iced Latte, and reading my Geology of Cornwall book, in the sun, iPod plugged in. Very very very nice feeling.

Another sunny day tommorow.. lets go walking.

Why do we always run towards the light!?

That silly little ditto is stuck in my head now..

... Ugly little duckling.. 2 broken wings.. can't sing can't dance.. poor stupid thing...

Just got back from mining in Bedford United. Big Dave still can't really get over the fact that I refered them as Old Folks in my Caving/Mining log.

I don't really know why I do mining though.. I like caves much much more.. proper limestones with fossils, and water.. and stuff... but mines.. it is kinda uncessarily dangerous sometimes. I don't like hanging over a pitch knowing that I'm only fastened into the SEDIMENTARY rock wall with a few hangars.

Moments that I like mining would be when you come across something so derelict, yet epitomizes the effort, ingenuity of the miners of those days. Things like underground waterpumps, troughs, thunderboxes, and extremely small spaces. Oh yes. and mineral collection too.

No work tommrow. Yipee.

Could be inappropriate.

Ugly little duckling,
2 broken wings.
Can't sing,
Can't Dance,
Poor stupid thing.

Very stupid people.

There exist very stupid people in this world, and sometimes, I wonder why they are allowed at all, to share our precious oxygen.

Very Stupid Lady: Excuse me, my coffee.. its not hot at all! Could you please change it or something?

Me: Erm, ok, can I take a look at your receipt please?

(VSL proceeds to hand over cup of luke warm coffee and her receipt, which indicates that coffee was bought about a minute ago, which means that its supposed to be piping hot since our coffees come straight off the machine. Amazingly, her receipt indicates in bold; COLD MILK. Which means she requested for her milk on the side to be cold. Lets all sit and wonder, WHY THE HELL IS HER COFFEE NOT HOT THEN!?)

Me: I'll be back (trying very hard to look serious)

There are other instances of more moronic customers, some of whom, simply don't deserve to live.

This happened in Manchester.

There was once, a severely obese lady came riding in her little scooter thing meant for disabled people (WHY THE HELL IS OBESITY EQUATED TO DISABILITY!?) and very elderly folk with creaky joints. Eyeing her, I had a strange notion that she was going to come in and create some trouble.

So she comes in, parks her little scooter thingy on the side, and wobbles to the bar. She whips out her Loyalty card from ages ago, and wants to use it to claim a free drink. However, my colleague who was on the till refused her as we have been instructed not to accept loyalty cards anymore. She was obviously annoyed, and of course, as annoyed people do, they create trouble for others.

I was on the machine.. making coffee (duh!?). She ordered a Latte and halfway through making the drink, she suddenly requested the drink to have 'No foam on top'. Those of you who drink latte regularly will know that the mandatory 1 inch foam is created for aesthetic purposes, and also is an effect of steaming the milk thoroughly. I oblige.. I make her a cup of latte with less then the mandatory 1 inch.

She makes a fuss about the foam, proceeds to snatch a clean spoon from the back of the counter, and 'dig' out the foam.

bitch.

Of course, being at work, I just make her another cup then.. without foam.

So she goes away with her silly friend who is evidently not disabled, or at all near retiring age and following her around in that scooter thing meant for the elderly or disabled, and proceeds to tip 1/4 of the contents of her glass on the tray, just because she 'doesn't like foam'. Leaving a huge mess on the table.

Sweet.

Of course.. this is just a small percentage of the customers I serve.. By all means, VSL wasn't at all rude, as a matter of fact.. she was quite apologetic (i guess she realised), but since she was polite. oh well.. just give her another cup. But obese lady was just a plain old spiteful person who deems herself disabled enough to use the scooters.

Today I had this kid who had a 10 pound note, and debit card.. His bill for him and his kid brothers totalled up to 10.50 quid. And he insisted in using his 10 pound note, and 50p on his debit card. We were absolutely dumbfounded. He's just a kid...

Then we have the strange oddballs who come in and ask;

"Excuse me... Does Expresso Caramel XXX have any coffee in it?"

"Oh no it doesn't.. Expresso just means very very fast."

And I had this kid who ordered an Expresso with whipped cream on top, and a Vanilla XX. When actually.. all he wanted was an Expresso Vannila XX with whipped cream. -_- And he threw a big big tantrum when I absolutely flabbergasted at his very strange order.

Oh yes. And being elderly does not equate disability. Some of the old folks have problems getting around with bad joints and stuff, and it can be understood why they need the scooter. Almost all the elderly folk I meet at work are a wonderful sweet bunch anyway.
