Ah. Things are getting slightly better, i find myself with more time, thus more blogging. Yay.
Its been good the past 2 days. Bobbi, who is the absolutely most wonderful person to work with (other then KC, izzy and alex) in costa was on shift with me the past 2 evenings.. and we talked and talked and talked and talked about everything.
In many many ways.. she is like Greg. I find it difficult to keep anything from her, and I find myself telling her what I really am thinking. Which is very scary. ANyway. Yes. Greg is a wonderful buddy. After 3 years. Thousands of midnight quarrels over politics, area cleaning, and general rubbish.
Called Costa plymouth today, to remind Siri that i was coming back to work for her over x'mas (just in case she forgot). Alex answered the phone, but bless her, she thought i was someone from another store, and it was too noisy for me to notice it was alex. : P
After work today.. me and Bobbi went round to give some of the leftover sandwiches to the homeless that sit by the streets in manchester near the bus station. I've been doing that for some time now, and its beggining to be a regular thing. I'd usually stop by for chats, but today I really needed to go home to mug. It was nice to see people in Manchester caring for the homeless by giving them hot drinks and stopping for chats with them. Some of these homeless are really victims of circumstances that shouldn't be. Which is why I disagree strongly with the welfare state. It makes people lower their guard.
We (me and bobbi) were stopped by this funny african guy on a bike, who started a conversation because he really liked my bike! He wanted to try it out, but of course i refused, it being manchester, and late at night.. but we ended up having a long chat about bicycles and it being more mono then ever.. but of course, we were very obliging, and he was afterall, a seemingly nice man with no ulterior motives. My bike actually costs freaking 300 pounds at least.. according to Edinburgh Bike Coop.
Life has been hectic, and admittedly, I've neglected alot of friends.. especially those back home. So, please do drop an email/message/text/comment if you do read this post to let me know if you're alive! : )
Latest news, I will defo be going back to Singapore in september next year. Will be back for 2 weeks only, and I will have to plan it properly so that I can get all I can out of Singapore in 2 weeks, which to be honest, isn't at all enough.. : (
And and and.. I will be going somewhere nice (hopefully spain!!!) for 6 weeks to do my Mapping project! Yay! Won't have much money left.. Overdraft here I come!!!
And and and.. I plan to spend 2 weeks either in Matienzo, Northern spain, or Dachstein in Austria for a Caving expedition! How exciting is that! I know its less exciting then one in Malaysia, but we figured its best to go on someone's expedition before planning one ourselves.
Last but not least, the past 2 weeks have been very much perspective changing for me. I found myself accepting who I am much more then ever before, and I find it extremely liberating. However, there are setbacks from this. To be very honest, a person has been in the equation for the past 3 weeks, I find it all very exciting and new. Again, there is the non-sequitor, BUT, things might have changed, and as much as I am 22, confident, and absoltely no regard for what tommorow holds, the other person isn't the same as I.
Intermittently, I have felt confused, upset, and even mildly depressed, but having my caving mates, people like greg, bobbi, and bart and kat have made it all very quite bearable and almost seemingly easy. I think about it all, and I can only look back at my very charmed life.
Not to mention, all the other amazing people that i work, live, and study with, have made my stifling and frighteningly hectic life so much more bearable.
Other exciting news.. Ivan's coming on the 7th to the 9th from denmark. He hasn't replied to my offer of staying in manchester yet (I usually leave manchester for the 'wilderness' for weekends), but nevertheless I am going to pencil it in, and also, because I feel obliged, as my trip to Copenhagen would be less then fantastic without his hospitality. Cheryl's coming to london on the 18th, of which I am not able to confirm my attendance yet, as i've to work! : ( Raymond tan is coming to Europe on the 19th, and Manchester proper on the 20th, and HUI AND YANPING are coming soon... again. i forgot the dates. Damn me! : (
Oh yeah. caving's been fucking awesome, but i don't have the arse to bother loading pictures up. : )

Beyond Daftness.
Just got back from South Wales.. somewhere near the Medips.
Spent the weekend with the caving club at CHECC.. which is a very pointless council of higher education caving clubs. Which is also just another reason to get amazingly drunk and do stupid things.
No i didn't get amazingly drunk. Things that've happened recently, and the amazing stress levels my body has been thorugh recently simply cannot afford the sensation of getting amazingly drunk. Got lots to drink though, and slept considerably early as compared to most people.
Quite strangely, I didn't go caving. I was really looking forward to visting Ogof Fynnon Ddu, or even Dan Yr ogof, and yet.. all i did was walk to some amazing waterfall, and walk back. And visit pubs. welsh pubs. haha.
So, technically, I lugged my 10kg caving equipment over for nothing. damn.
When we went walking today, I looked at the rocks and assessed it for a possible candidate for my mapping project next year, and it failed fucking miserably. First of all, the weather was innocuously unpredicatable. Even with a bloody barometer attached to my wrist, I found it extremely difficult to guess the weather even overnight. Damn.
Then there was the extremely boring selection of rocks. All limstones, different types of limestones.. fucking boring. not as if i haven't seen enough limestones! : ( can't imagine why anyone would want to go there to do their mapping.
Then theres the fucking cost. The nearest Asda was a good 30 minutes drive, and obviously is in british prices. Accomodation at the SWCC hut was 4 quid a night, which makes it about 28 a week. Thats cheap, but seriously, a caving hut for 6 weeks? you must be fucking crazy. I'd rather camp.
Spoke to kirsty about mapping, and she still strangly advises me to go to spain. I'd love to... but everyone seems not to want to go overseas.
Its abit strange how geologists are not willing to rough it out for just 6 weeks without internet, or the daily comforts afforded to us just to look at rocks. I don't know, but i'm more then happy to do that, because i know that i will appreciate all that i have when i return. Not very pleased that I can't find people even vaguely sporting enough to rough it out a little in a course that i should expect to find truckloads of outdoor enthusiasts!!! : (
Talked alot about next year's caving expedition, and minds kept changing.. Will reckons we should go to Matienzo, Phil thinks Vercors, and some people are impressed by Dachstein. I'm not too all keen on going to silly tight austrian caves that have amazingly bloody long pitches. JH was a killer for me already, and that was only 50m. I think we should go to Matienzo.. but some people think not. hmm.
So yeah, regardless, i'm going to find people to go to spain and map there. I can't be arsed if its not going to be with my friends, simply because i know i won't be very happy mapping in britain anyway. It'll be too cold/miserable and bloody expensive.
